I am nominating myself for the president role because I am deeply committed to PES' mission to create a community in the PHD department and bring people together around psychology and education.
From July to December 2022, I was the events coordinator and organised a variety of events including coffee socials, an induction social and a winter celebration. I also started the PES Weekly Newsletter where the committee takes turns sharing curated recommendations and events that benefit our members. On an operational level, I played a key role in coordinating tasks and making sure we plan our events in a timely manner.
When the president role was vacated in December, the committee nominated me for the interim president position. As an interim president, I succeeded in ensuring the transition period runs smoothly and does not interrupt the society's activities. I have also continued to contribute to planning and coordinating events including organising a speed-mentoring event for students in our department.
My plans for the future involve engaging more people in our events by diversifying our offerings. On a social level, I plan on organising an event that focuses on mind-body exercise to promote well-being. On an academic and professional level, I'm planning a speaker event with academics and engaging our members in creating and supporting a volunteering project.
I hope you will support me to continue growing the society and creating a community as the elected president.
