Abigail Maya Surin (Abby)

Hi everyone! I’m Abby and I am applying to become the Vice President of the Women’s Engineering Society. As President of my college’s Pre-University Club, I gained leadership skills through organising socials and working together with diverse groups of people. I also experienced growth during my time as the Internal and External Affairs Officer at Tutors In Action Malaysia where I carried out welfare check ins and assisted the Executive Directors and implementing strategies for the organisation.

I plan to integrate the national Women’s Engineering Society’s values into WES if elected;

  1. Collaborative: Organise events with other societies within UCL, London and even with the national Women’s Engineering Society.
  2. Empowering: Bringing in sponsors and connecting them with students through various career oriented programmes. For example, mentorship schemes and site visits.
  3. Inclusive: Spotlighting female engineers from underrepresented backgrounds with stories that could inspire students.

I am committed to bring fresh and new ideas to the society as well as my passion to collaborate with others to empower females in engineering while also ensuring an inclusive community.

Ayca Azra Aykac

I’m standing for Vice President of WES to create more opportunities for both social connection (like film and pizza nights) and meaningful professional events such as industry panels and career support. I want to help build a strong, supportive community where we can connect, grow, and succeed together in engineering.
