Women's Engineering Society: Events Manager

Hi! My name is Abigail, but feel free to call me Abby :D

Blending my creativity and passion to create an impact, I am applying for the Events Manager role under the Women’s Engineering Society because I want the society to serve as a platform to not only empower females within the society but also empower females as far and wide as possible through various initiatives such as volunteering events. From collaboration with other societies and student networks to fun socials, I want everyone to leave WES events with a sense of community. Additionally, I believe the society should continue to inspire women to reach their full potential through seminars and workshops where students can engage in hands-on activities to gain new skills.

As part of the United Kingdom and Eire Council for Malaysian Students, I co-headed the Speaker Management department for a flagship event, sourcing 6 speakers and organising speaker logistics, as well as onboarding sessions. I also assist in the execution of well-being initiatives to promote mental health awareness and foster a supportive student environment. Additionally, my experiences organising events such as a Malaysian social and a careers event under the Malaysian Society have equipped me with the necessary skills to organise WES events. 

Overall, I believe that both my passion to create an impact and my capabilities in organising fun and meaningful events make me a suitable candidate for this role :D
