Women in STEM Society: President

I'm Gabriella Conti, a Y3 Human Sciences student and the current Sponsorship Officer for WISS. Over the past year, I’ve had the privilege of witnessing the growth and support for WIS, and I’m motivated to contribute to its continued success as President (2026/7). WISS aims to foster a supportive, inclusive, and diverse environment where individuals across disciplines can develop connections and skills to support personal and career growth. In one year, our membership has expanded by 140%, and we hosted the first-ever cross-institutional WIS event, bringing together over 160 students from KCL, ICL, and UCL.

If elected President for 2026/2027, I plan to build on this momentum by:

a) Implementing outreach initiatives to increase awareness of WISS. 
b) Partnering with organisations, external speakers and other societies that align with our ethos to upscale our social and career events, while ensuring accessibility through subsidised member costs.
c) Promoting community-focused events such as inter-year advice sessions, CV workshops, and informal staff-student networking.
d) Establishing clear, actionable feedback systems, including anonymous surveys and committee drop-in hours, to ensure every voice is heard.

WISS’s future success depends on our ability to understand and meet our members' needs. I strive to establish an environment that encourages and promotes open communication and student-focused action. I'm looking forward to helping our members make the most of their time at UCL.
