Having really enjoyed my time as the Sponsorship First Year Representative this year, I feel I am best qualified to take on the role of Head of Sponsorship. I know first hand how challenging it can be applying for finance roles as a woman, simply because there are so few women doing the same. Therefore I am eager to do everything I can to break down some of these barriers through increasing my involvement with the society by reaching out to banks and actively finding and creating opportunities to help women break into finance.
I will soon be involved in hosting a session with Emma Kangis, which has given me experience coordinating with someone working in the industry, as well as increasing my interest in finding fresh faces from a range of companies to share their experiences via talks and networking events.
I enjoy taking initiative as is hopefully reflected by my experiences, such as raising money for students in the Gambia, and planning events as a member of my head student committee in Sixth Form, all of which taught me how to organise, communicate, and work with others. I believe these transferable skills would be of great help when building valuable connections with sponsors and peers.
I would focus on strengthening relationships with our existing sponsors while also reaching out to new firms to expand opportunities available to members, working to ensure that WIF continues to be a supportive space where women feel encouraged and prepared to pursue careers in finance!
