Election post
I want more students to see volunteering as a normal part of their time at UCL—not something extra for the highly motivated few. A lot of people want to get involved but don't know where to start, or feel like they don't have time. My main goal is to close that gap: clearer signposting, better connections between VolSoc, SLP and the Volunteering Service, and opportunities that actually fit around a student's schedule. I've volunteered across conservation projects, urban farms and community clean-ups, so I know that volunteering sticks when it feels meaningful and accessible.
I've done a lot of volunteering—food banks, mangrove planting, river cleanups, urban farming, conservation research—across two countries, so I understand what makes people show up and what makes them not bother coming back. I know how to talk to people who are already passionate, but more importantly I know how to reach people who aren't yet.. I'm organised, I follow through, and I genuinely care about making volunteering feel less like an obligation and more like something worth your time.
