Election post
Why are you standing?
Hello there!
My name is Suhan, and I am a first-year Maths student at UCL. (Dw, I hate numbers too :) )
As some regulars might have noticed, we have attempted various collaborations with non-UN-related societies this year, such as our event with the Board Game Society. A lot of our MUN procedures (including GA!) can be applied to Sci-Fi, games, movies and many more interests. It is essential, however, that we acknowledge how intimidating our society’s activities might seem, whether it is due to a sweaty reputation from certain universities (HULT -_- ) or due to the large amount of public speaking.
As an events officer, I will spend a lot of time designing beginner-friendly versions of MUN protocol, making our special sessions a lot more engaging and fun for both us and the societies we participate in these events with. These special sessions will allow our members to meet new people and have a lot of fun doing something unserious and trivial in a world where everything seems anything but.
Aside from my main goal, I will continue to support the society’s other external events, such as embassy visits and talks. Whenever possible, I shall also continue to bring in a unique STEM perspective to the committee, helping ensure that our activities tend to occur at times when as many people as possible can attend them.
I hope you will vote for me in this election, and I look forward to seeing you next year!
