Candas Bilgili

I am standing for Welfare Officer because supporting others has consistently been one of the most meaningful parts of my academic and personal journey. Throughout high school, I actively took on roles that focused on peer wellbeing, mentorship, and inclusion. As a Peer Tutor, I delivered over 40 hours of English and Physics lessons, not only helping classmates academically but also supporting their confidence and motivation. I learned how important it is to create a safe and encouraging environment where people feel heard and valued. My experience as a Basketball Coach and former Team Captain further strengthened my ability to lead with empathy. Managing team dynamics, resolving conflicts, and ensuring every player felt included taught me that well-being and performance are deeply connected. I always prioritised open communication and mutual respect. Additionally, through the Social Services Club, I volunteered to teach underprivileged students and support visually impaired individuals. These experiences reinforced my commitment to accessibility and equal opportunity. At UCL, I want to help create a supportive Turkish Society where members feel comfortable sharing concerns, building friendships, and balancing academic and social life. I am approachable, organised, and genuinely motivated to ensure that every member feels supported and represented.
