As part of my previous leadership roles, I have gained the experience of leading others and I constantly seek opportunities for leadership positions. I am proactive and self-motivated, therefore I enjoy taking charge to implement collective ideas. As a trustworthy individual whom my peers can approach, and actively offering suggestions at school council sessions, I showcased my communication skills with people of various age groups. I pride myself on being hardworking and collaborative to bring out the potential of others.
As Marketing Director for my team in Young Enterprise, I successfully inspired a sub-team to boost efficiency and promote a healthy working environment, leading to us winning Best Team in London and participating in the UK National Finals. These roles boosted my understanding of visual media and making content both informative and engaging. As School House Captain and leading Youth Volunteers at my local temple, I developed my interpersonal skills as well as a sense of being a well-rounded person. I am fuelled by the sense of belonging felt when you organise events and immerse yourself, and I believe I thrive in a committee environment.
My culture is so integral to my identity and I feel passionately about bringing awareness to the richness of Telugu culture. Being Head of Cultural Events would enable me to be connected and rooted to this aspect of my identity; to share and learn about other people's experiences to enrich my understanding of our culture.
I’m applying for Head of Cultural Events for Telugu Society because my Telugu identity is something I’m incredibly proud of, and I feel it’s often underrepresented at university. Growing up, Telugu culture has always been such a vibrant and meaningful part of my life, from language and music to festivals, food, and family traditions. I would love the opportunity to help showcase and celebrate that on campus. I think there’s so much beauty in our culture that deserves to be shared more widely, not just within our own community but with the broader student body as well. Having previously helped organise events like Culture Day at school, I’ve seen how powerful cultural celebration can be in creating pride, unity, and curiosity among others. As Head of Cultural Events, I’d want to organise events that feel authentic and inclusive, whether that’s celebrating festivals like Sankranti or Ugadi, hosting traditional performances, or incorporating modern Telugu music and dance. I’d also love to collaborate with other cultural societies to create joint events that highlight both our uniqueness and our shared experiences. For me, this role is about strengthening our community, giving Telugu students a stronger sense of belonging, and ensuring our culture is visible, celebrated, and appreciated within the wider university space. Being part of Telugu Society as a first-year rep, I’ve genuinely loved getting involved and seeing the impact the society has on students.
Hi, I’m Harshith, and I’m thrilled to be running for Head of Cultural Events for the UCL Telugu Society. I have a massive appreciation for our cultural roots, and my main ambition is to bridge our rich traditions with the dynamic student lifestyle here in London. I want to ensure our cultural showcases to be vibrant and the talk of the campus. Ultimately, I want to foster an environment where we can all proudly embrace our heritage while forming lifelong friendships.
When it comes to putting together large-scale events, I absolutely love the process. From sorting out the intricate logistics behind the scenes to the final execution on the day. I bring a strong background in organisation to the table, meaning you can count on me to handle the finer details. I thrive on the idea of bringing an ambitious idea to life, and will ensure every single celebration runs safely, smoothly, and flawlessly.
I’m a naturally outgoing and approachable person who loves meeting new people. Starting university can be quite daunting, particularly for freshers. I am completely dedicated to making sure nobody feels left out and that we build a genuinely tight-knit community from the very beginning of the academic year.
My promise to you is, I will deliver well organised cultural events and cultivate a deeply welcoming atmosphere. Together, we can make the UCL Telugu Society a genuine home away from home and the absolute highlight of your university experience!
Growing up in Hyderabad, I've witnessed the Telugu culture to its fullest- be it the sweets, the festivals, or the movies. I've seen how vibrant and dynamic our culture is. I’d love to bring that same authenticity and energy to our events — whether that’s Sankranti celebrations that actually feel like Sankranti, dance nights inspired by Tollywood classics, or cultural evenings that make people feel at home. I'm running for this role because I want all of us to feel the same way we felt at home. I want to organise more events and help showcase our rich culture.
