Sruthika Karthigeyan

Having previously co-founded a society from the ground up and now serving as your Cultural Rep, I’ve seen firsthand how much impact a dedicated committee has on the member experience. I’m standing for Vice President because I want to ensure Tamil Society is an inclusive community where we can build genuine connections and create memories that stay with us long after we leave university.

My experience in leadership started before uni, where I was the co-founder and Vice Chair of my South Asian Society and Chair of the Psychology Society. I learned how to move beyond just having ideas and actually deliver results. I managed the end-to-end planning of everything from high-turnout weekly sessions to guest speakers and cultural stalls, like mehndi and sari-draping. I believe the best way to honour our society's legacy is to stay on top of the details and keep the energy high, so that every event we hold adds something meaningful to the foundation already in place.

While I’m naturally organised and reliable, I’m also someone who is always down to try new things. I aim to support the committee in increasing the frequency of our events, establishing a mix of dedicated UCL-only socials to build a tighter-knit community, alongside larger-scale collaborations with other universities and societies. I’m driven by the opportunity to turn our ideas into a consistent, high-energy calendar that truly delivers for every member.

Samyuktha Muthuram

Hi everyone, I'm Samyuktha and I'm applying to be Vice President of Tamil Society!

TSOC has always been a massive part of my university journey. My first friends at UCL were Tamil, and TSOC events were something we all bonded over. They have been the source of so many unforgettable and incredible memories, and I want to help everyone find their place in this society!

Having been a member of Tamil Society in my first year and on committee in my second year, I have learned a lot about how TSOC works and what makes it such a great community. I have also had time to think of ways to make the society bigger and more inclusive of everyone, even if you haven't found your people yet. I want to make TSOC more welcoming for everyone, and give you a fun, safe space to be yourselves!

I want to make our events bigger and better. Charity Week was an incredible addition this year, and I would love to expand it to include more workshops and activities to help more charities next year. I also want to include more non-drinking events, like Sip and Paint, bowling socials, games nights, movie nights and much more. I want to raise the calibre of our club nights as well, making them bigger and better. I want to build on TSOC Families, and include more family game show events so that everyone has a chance to get involved!

If that sounds like something you would like, please vote for me to be your vice president!

I’d like to ensure events are in accordance with the wants of all ages in the society and provide my insight from experiences. I wish to continue to hold a leading role in Tamil society and produce more ideas for future socials/events.
