I believe that as someone who attends every swimming session with an attitude of dedication and focus, mixed with sociability, I would make an excellent swimming captain for the fitness squad. Furthermore, I have had a combined 9 years of experience in swimming, including competitions, and have constructed and lead swimming sessions before. I think I bring a good balance between social elements and hard work, which is something I’m sure a lot of swimmers can appreciate.

I will make sure to push everyone to the level that they want to achieve, while also enjoying themselves and meeting new people.

Hi everyone, I'm Ashley! I’m currently a first year student in the fitness squad and am putting myself forward to become fitness captain. As fitness captain, I'll do my best to make sure the weekly sets are better balanced by adding sets that give everyone the opportunity to swim their preferred stroke. I'd also like to focus more on various aspects of the sport as well, such as technique (through drills), stamina (longer distances), and sprint work. This would let the training develop us as swimmers in multiple ways. As someone who has swum competitively through all of high school and had previously served on the leadership council, I am well-versed in making sets for different abilities and ensuring they are suitable for the hour available.

Rhin Choe

Hi everyone!

It has been an honour to be one of your 3 fitness captains this year, and I am so happy to see so much dedication from many of you. It is rewarding to see a lot of improvement and enjoyment across the board.

Moving forward, I would like to be your fitness captain again to make the fitness sessions better geared for everyone. This could mean more long-term planning for high fitness lane, and more supervision and technique work for the low fitness lane. And of course, bring the club closer together to make an even more welcoming environment.

With Rhin, everyone will win.

I believe I would be a strong Swimming Fitness Captain, as swimming has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. I started swimming at the age of five and began training competitively when I was eleven, so the pool has basically been my second home for most of my life. Over the years, I’ve learned not only how to swim well, but also how to structure effective and enjoyable training sessions. I understand how to build workouts that include a balanced mix of drills, kicks, pull sets, and different strokes so that sessions target the whole body, improve technique, and keep things interesting. Swimming fitness should challenge people, but it should also be fun. Being the captain of my high school swim team, I enjoy pushing myself and others in training, and I know a wide range of drills that helped me improve as a swimmer, which I would love to share with others. In addition, I’m also comfortable with organisation and technology, so I would be able to manage sign-ups, communicate sessions clearly, and help run training smoothly. As Fitness Captain, I would also bring new ideas that I used to do in my training to keep sessions engaging and fun, including sprint challenges, technique-focused sessions, fun social ideas, and relays at the end of a session to make training more social and interactive. Most importantly, I would bring enthusiasm, creativity, and commitment to making swim fitness something people look forward to each week.
