I would like to apply to be an outreach officer because I would want to be more involved in outreach sessions and contribute more time and thought to the street aid society. This society has given me an appreciation for what I have and I believe in the importance of doing what we can for the local community. In joining the committee, I hope to continue the efforts of this society and contribute further to those in need.

Having attended numerous Street Aid Society outreaches over the last term I really can say that they make a difference to people's lives even if small. I love being part of a team of people who are so committed and driven to helping people and would be honoured to be a bigger part of this society. What is unique about this society is that it brings together people from all different backgrounds with the shared goal of making people's days on the street a little better and I would love to help encourage more people to support this local cause. If I were an addition to the team I would help to foster a positive and community driven environment. Most of all, I'd want to put all focus maximising efforts to help as many people as possible in a personal way. For example, during the Christmas outreaches I loved writing cards and feel that whilst this was a small gesture it would've brightened up people's days a little bit. It's through efforts like these that not only remind people that they are still thought about and cared for which will hopefully give them comfort in lonely times, but also helps remind us that we're all people and that no one deserves to be ignored especially if they're in need of help. Even if someone doesn't feel like a hot drink merely the small act of conversation with someone can make such a big difference to their day and everyone deserves to be listened to. I really hope to be a part of the team and continue to help make a difference to people's lives!

I believe this society is essential to help grow a sense of community. Giving back to people around us that aren’t as fortunate makes a real difference. I’ve been going out to a lot of outreaches this past school year. I would love to get even more involved to help the society grow bigger and help more people. I am open minded and always happy to talk with everyone around me. I would have no problem ensuring everything goes well during outreaches. It’s important to confront these different realities. It is through empathy that I want to keep helping others while also ensuring that everyone around me brings this idea to outreaches. Overall I have found great people in this society which has made me want to take up a bigger role in it. I am responsible and committed. The members of the society have set the example of how being envolved should be about helping others but also getting to know new people that share this same mindset and create friendships. Next year I will be a second year in International Social and Políticas Studies. Learning about the world and politics is important but taking real action to  help out people on the streets is the first step of direct change to help build a better tomorrow.
