What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?

Most students at UCL are involved in societies, whether to make friends or enjoy their hobbies away from home. Whatever the reason, there is always some degree of communication between students and their societies. Often, I find this to be the make or break reason if a student enjoys their society. Seeing this, communication itself is a big attribute that I have; I am naturally extroverted, and friendly (usually). But more importantly, I am direct. Students can discuss any concerns with me and I will report this back to the union without diluting the statement.

I will try my best to deal with the su.
What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?

There are many cultural societies at UCL representing international students and their home countries. However, I personally find that often, students feel that they can only join such cultural societies if they are from that country or closely associated with it. I don't believe this is how cultural societies should function. Thus, if I am elected, I hope to encourage more interconnectedness between societies, as well as more collaborations between societies; for students to forge ties with others beyond their usual groups. I believe that this will enrich friendships across the university.

Please summarise why students should vote for you.

I love the society culture at UCL, and would cite it as the foundation of my strongest friendships. I know that this is true for many other students as well. As a result, I personally care largely about students society-life and experience. I will work towards any recurring issues affecting societies that should be solved but haven't been, as I want as many students as possible to enjoy societies. I understand that many society committees have grievances with the student union due to poor communication or lack of support on their part; consequently, I hope to act as a voice for these students.

What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?

Being part of committees of six societies- spread across Arts (Juggling, Fashion), Sports (RUMS Badminton) and General Interest ones (Space), I understand the different needs of each one!

I came into my role as treasurer mostly relying on training and frantically searching up “su ucl…” for any doubts I had- struggling to find an answer without having to call/visit Activities Reception. The struggle IS real!

I’ve seen firsthand the issues faced by us and have cursed at deadlines when I’ve missed them because there is too much information we must know from the start.

I can also make balloon dogs x

  • A way to copy info from past activity regs
  • Save handover documents and other such details onto the SU website

Alessandro Patel (He)
What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?

I bring leadership experience from both college and university. At Winchester College, I served as Co-President of the Medic Society, Editor-in-Chief of a student publication, and Deputy Head of House. I currently lead communications for Anthroshow 2026 and sit on the departmental Anti Racisms Committee. These roles have given me a practical understanding of how societies operate and how communication shapes engagement. I have chaired meetings, worked closely with committees, and represented student views. I value collaborative decision-making and approach responsibility with accountability.

Less bureaucracy! Better support for societies!
What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?

I want to make it easier for societies to run the activities that bring students together. Too often, committees spend time dealing with funding processes and administrative requirements rather than focusing on their members and events. I want to improve transparency around funding and work with the Activities and Sabbatical Officers to make guidance clearer and systems easier to navigate. I also want to ensure that societies from different backgrounds feel supported and represented within the Union.

Please summarise why students should vote for you.

I combine practical experience with institutional awareness developed through committee work and leadership roles. Running a society should not feel like fighting the system. I have experience with student committees and understand the challenges societies face, from funding applications to organising events. I will listen to societies, challenge systems that do not work, and advocate for better representation so that they receive the support they deserve
