Hi everyone,
I am Victoria from Y1 Sociology BSc. I am running for SRI Soc Events Officer to actively contribute to building a stronger, more connected community within our department.
I believe events are at the heart of any society. The way we plan, execute, and host them directly shapes members’ experiences, whether they feel welcomed, interested and motivated to return week after week. I want to ensure that every event we organise feels purposeful, inclusive, and enjoyable.
Throughout Year 1, I have developed my leadership and teamwork skills through initiatives such as the SRI Hackathon, IOE Employer Challenges, and UCL Careers workshops. These experiences required collaboration, problem-solving, and clear communication – all essential for organising successful events.
My organisational and communication skills are also evident in my role as Academic Representative for my course. Participating in the MHFA course has also fostered my ability to listen, respond and signpost others to helpful resources.
My Goals:
- Community-driven planning: take in suggestions on what activities to host next!
- Continuing relationships and networks with other societies for collaboration
- Continue hosting IOE Ball at the end of the year
- Balancing social and professional development: continue to organise alumni and career panels
I am passionate about helping SRI Soc grow not just in size, but in impact: creating experiences that students look forward to and remember long after the academic year ends!
I'm Qinru Wang, the first year sociology student at SRI. I'm now working as event officer in SRI Society, and I want to continue work with SRI Society and organise more events for our SRI students, including academic and career panels, talent show and more interesting activities etc that foster collaboration rather than competition.
I am organised, proactive, and careful to details. I value clear communication and collaborative planning, and I am committed to ensuring events are accessible, welcoming, and creative. By standing for Events Officer, I hope to help cultivate a vibrant, supportive society culture where ideas are promoted freely and everyone feels they belong to our society.
