Rustam Mukhamedjanov

Let me start with something honest. Most Social Sciences students don’t struggle because they lack ability.

They struggle because the path from degree to career feels unclear and fragmented.

That’s exactly why I’m running for Careers Officer.

SRI brings together students from a range of programmes, but right now, many still feel unsure what concrete steps to take next. My goal is simple: make SRI Society the place where career direction starts to feel structured, visible, and achievable.

If elected, here’s what I will prioritise:

  • Clear, practical career pathways: Targeted sessions for Social Sciences routes (consulting, policy, research, data, marketing) so members see realistic next steps, not generic advice.
  • High-signal opportunities in one place: Internships, insight events, and deadlines surfaced consistently, so students don’t miss opportunities simply due to information gaps.
  • Skills that translate into real applications: Focused CV/LinkedIn workshops and small-group prep sessions designed around what employers actually screen for.

Why me?

Because I care about outcomes. I pay attention to where students get stuck, and I focus on interventions that actually move people forward. I am genuinely invested in helping Social Sciences students feel more confident about their direction.

If you want a Careers Officer who will keep things practical, visible, and genuinely useful, I’d really value your vote.

My goal is to transform careers & outreach at SRI to feel accessible, practical & genuinely engaging

I will:

  • Develop a clear sponsor pipeline, systemizing long-term collaborations & partnerships → ensure communications are timely, transparent & professional.
  • Introduce fun networking mixers––from policy-and-pastry bakery socials to “study crawls” across libraries + research-themed excursions e.g think tank visits & Parliament tours connecting theory to real-world spaces
  • Invite professionals from policy, data science, research, NGOs, media & law to reflect SRI's interdisciplinary nature.
  • Ensure events interactive and welcoming––creating space for real networking and community-building, rather than one-off talks.

Careers shouldn’t feel intimidating––they should feel accessible & achievable.

As the current Outreach Officer, I manage external correspondence, partnerships & follow-ups with speakers. Beyond, I’ve built NGO partnership raising funds through student-led initiatives, interviewed professionals, & coordinated international collaborations –– strengthening my outreach strategy, professional communication, organisation, & follow-through.

I'm reliable, detail-oriented, & across divisions, my priority is the same: to help SRI expand its impact combining structure with approachability

I care about building real opportunities––not just events, but lasting connections.
