Amanda Timmerman

Hi all!😊

My name's Amanda and since childhood, I've enjoyed aggressive inline, ice-skating, recreational inline-skating and most recently roller-skating (quads).🛼

I had a great time at the Roller Nation rink event last term. So far this term, I've enjoyed co-leading quad-inline skate sessions, sharing handy skate tips, and sign-posting members to helpful online resources and fun vids in relation to quad and inline skating.

As a neurodivergent psychology PhD student with physical and mental health conditions, I openly advocate for people with visible and invisible disabilities, promoting positive wellbeing and the importance of caring for health and safety.🌻

In cooperation with fellow club leaders, I hope to:

  • Continue leading casual quad street sessions around King's Cross, open to all skill levels, with opportunities for members to grow their skillset.
  • Further my search for indoor spaces for quad people to roll around on wet weather days.
  • Join/lead UCL East skate sessions (whenever health allows) with a view to support quad cruising around the Stratford area.
  • Plan at least one cosy skate-related movie night per term as Student Union license permissions and room-bookings allow, with the aim of having additional, softer sensory options in the diverse array of great club events we have. :D
  • Hunt for other skate spots that allow for casual rolling around (e.g., Hyde Park, though the ground could be more quad-friendly, hehe😅).

In any case, looking forward to skating with you! 🛼🛼
