What compares to seeing that you made it onto your friend’s latest spam post? Maybe being the first slide on your friend’s latest spam post. To me, Pubs is all about that: a way to recognise and reach out to our friends, and a live catalogue capturing our best memories made in this vibrant, welcoming community.

Unknowingly, Pubs has done a lot for me ever since I came to London, making it convenient for me to spark conversations and friendships with a simple share of a post, and opening up opportunities to meet new people! Now, I’m looking for a chance to give back through running for Pubs Director :)

What I want to do for Pubs!

  1. Provide opportunities for connection
    • Publicise everything from smaller initiatives to more highkey events, to get members hyped up to see their friends and meet new people
  2. Make life in London more vibrant for Singaporeans
    • Suggest other ways for members to jio their friends to explore London!
    • Build up an online culture of recommendations, ‘hidden gems’, and must-try experiences from Singaporeans past and present
  3. Involve all SingSoc members!
    • Feature our members through recap posts/videos so everyone can reminisce, or celebrate efforts and achievements like those involved in the SingSoc play!
    • Leverage on highlights as a record of events and a point of reference for newer members (for practical info and sensings on what events may offer them)
    • Use social media to gather regular feedback from members, and touch base on what ideas members would like to see

SingSoc has been such a big part of my university life. Through it, I found amazing friends, familiar food, and a community that made London feel a little more like home. As Publicity Director, I’d love to help more people feel that same warmth starting from the very first post they see.

To me, publicity isn’t just about posters and captions. It’s about capturing the vibes, the inside jokes, the chaos at events, and the little moments that make SingSoc special. I want our socials to feel lively, relatable, and unmistakably us.

I bring creativity, initiative, and a good eye for design, while also being (sometimes a bit too) chronically online. I’m excited to experiment with fresh ideas, keep our branding cohesive, and make sure no event goes unnoticed. Most importantly, I want everyone to feel like they’re part of something fun and meaningful.

SingSoc is more than a society; it’s a family. As Publicity Director, I’ll do my best to showcase our people, our culture, and our energy, making sure that everyone knows there’s always a place for them here in our little community in London.
