Singsoc has given me a home 🏠 away from home, and I want to give back to the people who have made life here in UCL fun :)) Combining my strengths 💪 and experience in planning events, I want to create new 🌟, exciting 👯♂️ and fun experiences for you to make the most of your time here in London.
My vision is to design events that:
- Create enjoyable and meaningful experiences 🎉, and lasting memories
- Bring fresh and improved ideas 💡 to the table through refining and innovating on current plans
What I offer:
- An innovator who is not afraid to try 🚀
- I’m not afraid to experiment with new formats and ideas to improve your experience
- Detail oriented planning 🔍
- I pay attention to the small details, from the flow of the programme, to the small touches that make you feel considered
- I strike to make every part of the event intentional in forming a good experience
- A good listener 👂 who curates for you 🫵
- Our events should reflect the community. I will actively converse and seek feedback from the ground to curate events based on what you want
Under my term, I hope to make your £6 membership the best investment you’ve made 😂
Hi, I'm Rui Jun and I would be incredibly honoured to be your next Events Director.
If you're asking why I’m running, the honest answer is that UCLSS has given me a family in London, and I want to protect and grow the spaces that bring us together. Moving away from home is daunting, but our society events are the lifeline that keeps us connected. During my time on the Junior Committee, I had the privilege of planning our annual Spring Ball. I won't lie, it was intense. I learnt firsthand how to balance the creative side, like planning games that actually get people laughing and mingling, with the crucial operational side, like liaising with external venue management and caterers, all while strictly adhering to our budget. Planning the Spring Ball has taught me that behind every core memory, every laugh over a silly game, and every shared plate of food, there is a mountain of logistical work. I am stepping up because I want to carry that weight for you, so you can just show up and make memories
I want to bring this same dedication and heart to every single event this coming year. I believe I have the hands-on experience to handle the chaos behind the scenes, and I definitely have the heart to make sure our events feel like home. Thank you!
Hi everyone! I am Carolyn and I’m excited to run as your Events Director.
As Events Director,
- I will continue organising events that allow people to connect and build friendships. At the same time, I would love to introduce new activities that offer different ways for people to come together. For example, we could organise more short trips to other parts of the UK or nearby European countries (which can be voted on by SingSoc members), creating opportunities to make memories together outside London.
- Beyond large scale events, I believe that smaller and more intimate gatherings are just as important. Activities such as casual pub socials can create spaces where people are comfortable getting to know one another more personally. This will also allow events to feel less daunting to those less familiar with SingSoc.
- I will leverage my experience in organising events such as a VIA fundraiser, which raised $4000. By being detail oriented and adaptable, I will ensure that events run smoothly and members have the best experience possible. Beyond this, I will always strive to ensure every event feels welcoming, inclusive, and meaningful.
SingSoc has created some of my fondest memories since coming to UCL. From Ori Camp, to CNY Dinner, to the upcoming(!) Spring Ball, these events are more than just fun; they bring people together, spark new friendships and create lasting memories. These experiences are the reason why I would love to serve as your Events Director. Thank you!
