Natasha Sweeting

Hi, my name is Natasha and I am a second year biology student at UCL! I joined UCL SCUBA in my first year and was lucky enough to go on the trip to Madeira where I met some amazing friends and saw some incredible wildlife (we saw a sunfish from the boat despite John’s claims we didn’t). I am very passionate about marine science and conservation (being current conservation officer) and would like to make it more integral to the society. Lots of work has been done this year building foundational partnerships and I would love to see these grow and bring them to life next year as president. As a sport that is fairly limited in London I would endeavour to grow the society during term time by expanding our outreach work (working with charities/schools, running litter pick ups, attending conservation evenings and dive fairs…) and our socials. It’s so incredible to have so many people interested in diving and I would like members to be able to get to know each other better through volunteering, social events, sports nights and whatever other ideas we can come up with! Collaboration with other societies would also be an important factor - be it other sports or even film Soc (I would love to do a collaborative documentary/marine photography!). I would like to make SCUBA Soc more of a community where people can meet fellow divers, learn about marine life and conservation, attend incredible trips and get their certifications! It would be a privilege to be president next year :)
