Hi y'all! My name is Hailey Wilson, and I am running for UCL Salsa Society President 26/27!
I'm a 2nd Year Global Humanitarian Studies student, and I may be a familiar face to many of you as one of your current Communication Officers, and as an avid dancer in many of our weekly classes.
I am running for President because I want to represent a society that is more than just a space to dance, but is a community where every member can feel accepted, valued, and excited to pursue a love for Salsa. I believe that the friendships built in our classes, events, and socials are the heart of this society, and I am committed to ensuring every member feels welcomed and inspired with every move they learn, and every step they take.
As Communications Officer, I understand how much thoughtful organisation and clear communication shape people’s experiences within the society, from admin to the way we respond to feedback. Additionally, as President of my high school’s LGBTQ+ society for three years, I know how to build safe, inclusive spaces where people feel confident expressing themselves; I want to bring that same culture of openness and care to our Salsa Society. I am responsive, passionate, and organised; and above all, committed to giving back to this society that I love.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions about my policy plans, or would just like to get to know me better as a member of your society, current committee member, and Presidential Candidate for next year.
Hello Salseros and Salseras! My name is Viduna, I'm currently a third year Astrophysics MSci student, and I've been part of UCL Salsa Society for nearly two years. What started as a challenge from a friend quickly became one of the most transformative parts of my university experience, as one class was all it took for me to fall in love with salsa dancing! Beyond salsa itself, what I'm most grateful for are the priceless memories, friendships and experiences I’ve gained through this society, which I aim to cultivate for others as your next President!
Over the past year and a half, I’ve immersed myself in Salsa Soc, going from a complete beginner with no dance experience and knowing almost nobody, to being involved in both UCL’s Rueda and Salsa teams, performing at the inter-university level, and being among the most active members in the society. Thus, I’ve made it my priority to welcome and encourage new members and help create the warm, inclusive environment that first attracted me here.
Outside of salsa, I'm experienced in coordinating with the SU, having not only been the A Cappella Manager of Music Society, but also founded UCL A Cappella Society, where I formed its pitch, committee and long-term vision. Through these experiences, I'm well-equipped with the organisation and pragmatism needed to both run and grow a society effectively.
So, if you want commitment, reliability and a thriving salsa community, the decision is clear as it gets! Vote Viduna for President!
Salsa Society is my second home at UCL. If we haven’t met yet, you’ve probably seen my countless announcements in the group chat this year. Safe to say- I care about this society deeply.
And it’s not just about technique or performances, it’s about the feeling: the buzz of packed socials, the confidence of landing your first spin, the community that forms on and off the dance floor. As President, my goal is simple- bring that love of dancing back into the spotlight and make Salsa Society feel electric again.
Next year I want to expand what we do. That means stronger collaborations with societies like ACS and Musical Theatre, more fusion classes and cross-style workshops, and a bigger presence on campus. I’d love to introduce a large UCL salsa showcase where we can properly celebrate and perform what we build as a society.
I also want to grow our dance programme by introducing two bachata days: one focused on Dominican style and another on sensual/moderna. Alongside that, I’ll prioritise well-organised teams and events, and the return of the kind of lively community events people look forward to.
I understand the grind SU admin brings, but red tape won’t be my excuse. I’ll stay organised, transparent, and chase the SU so the committee can focus on creating great experiences. My goal is a cohesive, accountable team where members feel heard and supported.
Above all, every decision will prioritise the wellbeing and experience of our members!
Soooo.. vote Hana for president already XD
