I would like to express a keen interest in the social running captain role because I would like to help organise run leaders for social runs, lead couch 2- 5k program and arrange monthly Parkruns. In my first year, I have really enjoyed participating regularly in all the cross-country competitions especially at BUCS and LUCA events as there was real buzz to the team spirit and being able to represent UCL by competing against other Universities. Social running was one of the first things I did in my freshers’ week, and it really helped me fit into UCL Life and meet new people, who also ran. I liked the fact that there were different paces for everyone, and you could always just go slower if you wanted to. From aged 8 when I joined Gosforth harriers, I have thoroughly enjoyed competing and training in cross country and have had the opportunity to compete at regional and county level. At my home club, I was appointed as Junior Women’s Captain where I selected teams, which I’m still involved with, encouraged junior members and helped organise the Gosforth Harriers Summer relays. This previous experience will help me in doing this role. I always aim to come to training as regularly as possible and compete consistently and feel that I have a diligent and conscientious attitude towards training and want to get involved in organising social running events.
Social runs are a core part of RAX and, as many know, I’m not one to miss them (a good quality, considering!). As Social Running Captain, I would thoroughly enjoy running (pardon the pun!) the Monday and Wednesday Social Runs, as well as the monthly Parkruns, and be dedicated in their organisation. With Chairman of the Student Council and Cross Country Captain experience under my belt from school, I hope to be an active voice on the committee and I would be delighted to continue the committee’s fabulous work. With many titans leaving the team this year, I would be excited to welcome new members and encourage them in their progression. Social runs make running accessible, inclusive and an approachable sport and are one of the strengths that make RAX special. To give back to the members of RAX and replicate the wonderful experience I’ve had is something I would be grateful to do. I would have enormous shoes to fill, taking on Akira’s 10Ks, but I’m hoping I’ll manage!
I've been part of the club for a few years now and the social runs have always been one of the best parts of it for me. I'd love to help organize and lead the Monday and Wednesday social runs to keep them relaxed, welcoming, and something people look forward to each week.
I think there's also room to build on what we already do, whether that's making Sunday team runs a bigger thing, organizing more themed/charity runs, or putting together more post-run coffees/meals. Having led the UCL Rocket Engine Team this past year, I’m also very used to organizing and making sure things run smoothly.
At the end of the day I just want to help keep the club fun and relaxed. I'd really appreciate your support. Thank you.
Hi! I’m Vedh, hopefully a familiar face to many of you.
I’d love to be your next Social Running Captain because social runs are how I got into running and found my place in RAX. Social running is about having something for everyone. Whether it’s your Zone 2 before Tuesday track, or simply a way to stay active and catch up with friends during the week.
I’ve already volunteered to lead a few runs this year, and I’m always happy to lead any distance or pace. I’d love to bring some fun and creative Sunday long run routes into the mix, and work to properly bring back the slow 10K option for those who want it. I’m also not afraid to do a bit of people-wrangling to get more committee members involved and make more use of the Social Running Helpers group.
RAX has given me so much this past year, and I’d love the chance to give back by helping make social runs welcoming, inclusive, and a highlight of the week.
- I've taken part in most RAX events, particularly trainings, and I improved quickly. I smashed my 5k PB from over 22 mins to 19'34 thanks to RAX Track Trainings, Social Runs and Long Runs. That's the fastest improving I've made since I ran from 2023. I know how it feels, and I want more people feeling it too. I also led the Guitar Club back in high school, so organising things and communicating with people comes naturally to me.
- I'm aiming for a career in sports industry, so I strongly want to contribute to RAX, and gain hands-on experience. I’ve seen how fast Trail Running is growing as a sub‑category of running, and I've noticed so many opportunities in the industry. But I still need real experience like what RAX offers to grow. So definitely, I'll take this seriously.
