Hi guys!😁
My name is Kevin and I am a XC as well as a distance runner. Since the very first day of uni, I have already joined RAX and participated in every single XC race, either as a competitor or a marshal. I even earned myself the XC Dedication Award when I was a fresher and I went to the second most training sessions this year (just behind Akira)! Most importantly as a XC runner, I never missed a hill session — except when I was ill 🥲 — and I genuinely love racing XC. The cheers from marshals, teammates, and even rivals are unmatched (even if they are sometimes painful💀).
Here is a short list of plans I would like to fulfill in the following year:
- Host a group with slower pace on Sunday long runs, and have brunch after that😋
- Encourage RAX XC runners to run XC races such as the Met League and Nationals XC as a Highgate member💪
- Introduce buddy system for new runners and a monthly "Runner of the Month"🌟
On top of that, I will maintain most of the current programmes, including:
- Pre-season XC trainings🏃♂️
- Work with coach Barny for training sessions and organise XC races🏁
- Curry night🥘
Furthermore, I am currently working on my coaching assistant qualification of England Athletics, and as the senior patrol leader in my scout group, I’ve developed strong leadership skills. If elected as your XC Captain, I promise to lead from the front, support you from the side, and cheer you all the way to the finish line!🫶
Thank you and I’d really appreciate your vote!💜🩵
I would like to express a keen interest in the XC captain role because I would like to help organise cross-country competitions, participate in the LUCA XC fixtures and to organise training for the XC team. In my first year, I have really enjoyed participating regularly in all the cross-country competitions especially at BUCS and LUCA events as there was real buzz to the team spirit and being able to represent UCL by competing against other Universities. From aged 8 when I joined Gosforth harriers, I have thoroughly enjoyed competing and training in cross country and have had the opportunity to compete at regional and county level. A particular highlight was representing the North East in the London mini marathon and the Inter- Counties. I have extensive experience in competing in a number of cross-country championships including: the Nationals, North Easterns and the Northerns. I have done many cross country and road relays at both senior and junior women level. At my home club, I was appointed as Junior Women’s Captain where I selected teams, which I’m still involved with, encouraged junior members and helped organise the Gosforth Harriers Summer relays. This previous experience will help me in doing this role. I always aim to come to training as regularly as possible and compete consistently and feel that I have a diligent and conscientious attitude towards training and want to get involved with organising cross country events.
Hi I’m Leo and I would love to be your Cross Country Captain next year. You’ve probably seen me around racing, at training or at social run often with a ribbon in my hair. It sounds cliche but I genuinely think XC is the best sport whether you’re competing at the top or running it for fun. Doing XC at UCL has been some of my favourite moments whether it’s a weekend at BUCS or simply a training night, the sport has given me so much and I want to give back. As XC captain I want to create a focus on having a strong team atmosphere and making running a true team sport. I want consistent dedicated training and this training to be together. I love RAX and having been on the committee as social media officer this year I understand the inner workings of the club and want to focus these on organising XC to be the best it can be. I plan to continue the successful turnout at LUCA XC’s and make sure this is consistent throughout as well as this extending to training. Overall, I love RAX and Cross Country so I would love to as Captain remind everyone why we are the fastest club in London. 💜
