Hi, I’m Sohan, a second-year med student, and I’m running to be your Academic Y1-3 VP!
Every one of us deserves clear, structured academic support. I know that pre-clinical years can feel overwhelming and unclear, and I want to help. As a two-year Academic Rep across three modules, I have more experience representing you to the medical school than anyone else, and I have worked closely with both faculty and students, gaining insight into where improvements can be made and how to implement them constructively so you can ENJOY MED SCHOOL!!
Alongside representing your academic concerns, I have delivered tutorials and supported revision initiatives, so I understand what you genuinely value: clarity, accessibility, and realistic exam preparation.
As your Academic Pre-Clin VP, I will:
- Expand the highly successful RUMS Year 1+2 Tutorial Series and Revision Days to accommodate more students and cover more content and questions
- Introduce a structured Year 3 revision series to consolidate pre-clinical content ahead of clinical years
- Collaborate with MedSoc and SurgSoc to open up their Mock OSCEs to everybody and run them earlier in the year, ensuring everyone can experience realistic stations ahead of exams
- Launch a centralised tutorial and events calendar in collaboration with all medical and surgical societies to stop the group chat spam!
- Petition to create more highly valued scholarships (like Rani Rawji) to increase your opportunities to get involved in research early
Hello everyone! I'm Josh (...Jonki) and I'm excited to run for Pre-Clinical Academic VP!
Having created student resources from my very first day at UCLMS, and through my role as a RUMS Academic Representative in both my first and second year, I'm no stranger to working with the UCLMS faculty to improve your experience here in medical school.
I've also been heavily involved in other ways to improve the med-student experience, including organising welfare events with the RUMS Welfare Committee, or delivering the RUMS and MedSoc Tutorials for Year 1.
I hope I've helped some of you with my Anki decks or tutorials; I would love to continue making your time at UCL as stress-free as possible next year, through a formal position within RUMS!
Some of the ideas I will aim to implement, if I am elected, include:
- RUMS Portfolio Pathway Series - A RUMS-led teaching series demystifying portfolio-building in Years 1-3 (research, conferences, leadership, studentships), taught by students who’ve done it.
- Treasure Trove 2.0 - High-yield, up-to-date, UCLMS-approved cheat sheets, co-produced by myself and RUMS Academic Reps/Tutors, to complement RUMS Tutorials and provide summaries for all modules.
- Year 2 OSCE Upgrade - Dedicated RUMS OSCE teaching days in collaboration with SurgSoc and MedSoc, and a push for strengthened OSCE teaching through release of clearer, station-specific marking criteria and a complete checklist of all examinable OSCE content.

And many more!
Don't be silly, vote for Jonki...
Hi!! I'm Megan (aka Mexie, Year 2s iykyk), and I'm running to be your Academic VP!
I've been an Academic Rep in both Y1 (FHMP) and Y2 (NSB), so I've seen the role from the inside: sitting in SECs, relaying feedback, chasing professors, and watching what actually changes instead of getting lost in the noise. I want to take that and make the system work harder for you.
Here's what I'm bringing to the table:
Relaunching the Realistic Guide to UCLMS Site - I've already written one for Y1s covering revision, research, and surviving London, and the response was overwhelmingly positive. There's a real appetite for honest, student-written Advice, and I want to make it official.
Run proper Year 2 Mock CPSAs under RUMS, because right now, students are cobbling together prep from wherever they can find it, and that shouldn't be the case. Having tutored Y1 Formative Prep Tutorials this year, I know what goes into organising these well. :D
Build a centralised research opportunities page! As a Rani Rawji and Laidlaw Scholar, I know how hard these are to find. I want to revive the old ROB the Bank resource so research doesn't just go to those who happen to know the right people.
Live captions on all LT1 lectures! Long overdue.
I'm also close with a lot of the current RUMS committee, and I know this role means working collaboratively with welfare, events, and everyone else, not just the academic section in isolation. If you want an Academic VP already in the trenches with you, I'd love your vote!
