Last year, when the Rock and Metal society was first established, I was one of its first members. Since then, I knew I wanted to contribute and help the society grow. This year, as Social Media Officer, I’ve had the opportunity to work behind the scenes advertising our events and growing our community. Being on committee this year has given me an insight into what is expected of each member to run the society and offer all of our events.

I would love to take an even more active role in the society’s leadership as the President. I believe my organizational and time-management skills will be essential in ensuring the society runs smoothly and offers a variety of events for everyone. Rock and Metal society holds a special place in my heart and it would be an honour to oversee and support its continued growth :)

I’m standing for President of the UCL Rock and Metal Society because rock and metal are not just music genres—they are a counterculture built on outsider passion, freedom of expression, and shared emotional experience.

I want to strengthen the society as a space where people can explore new music, make friends who share the same enthusiasm (or peculiarity), and most importantly, feel something real. Rock and metal have always been about intensity, individuality, and community, and I want our society to reflect that spirit.

My goal is to make the society more active and engaging. That means organising regular listening and jam sessions, themed events, group gig trips, and collaborations with other music societies—especially Live Music Soc—for all the rock and metal musicians out there. I also want to create spaces where members can recommend albums, dive into niche subgenres, form bands, or simply hang out and talk about music beyond lectures and coursework.

At its best, a music society is not just a list of events—it is a community. I want ours to be a place where long-time fans and curious newcomers alike feel welcome, whether they’re into classic rock, extreme metal, or anything in between.

A COMMUNITY FOR EVERYONE.
NO POLITICS.
NO COLOURS.
NO GATEKEEPING.
NO COMPROMISE.
