Hey everyone! It has been a huge pleasure serving as events officer for Rock and Metal Society (RMS) this year, and I'd love to do it again next year. I've really enjoyed getting to know you all, and this is where I feel I've truly found my people at UCL.

I take great pride in provide the society with a wide variety of inclusive events to suit all tastes, striving to ensure no one is unwelcome in RMS. From instrumental instructive sessions, to trips to local rock/metal pubs, to quiet social events, I've proudly pushed for and often led these events - my goal this year was to provide something for everyone and I feel like we've made great strides towards this.

As a founding member of the society in 2024, I am deeply familiar with all processes involved in the running, planning and managing of official Society- or Student's Union-affiliated events. This familiarity allows me to not only maximise the frequency and efficiency of our events, meaning we can cover the most ground with our variation, but to also really engage with everyone in the society and see what there is demand for. To this end, I have also been responsible for several initiatives to improve the running of the society, including our anonymous feedback system, and a full database of all events past and present. This kind of inclusive and optimising approach is one that I intend to carry forward, should I be re-elected as events officer, to let our society continue to grow, improve and make all voices heard.

I have been a metalhead for many years now, and with that i have gained a unique insight into the importance of the music, the atmosphere, and the community.

The genre has provided me with a wealth of unforgettable and fulfilling memories/experiences.

I have nominated myself for Events Officer role because I want to be part of building memories and experiences for others.

I think that i would be a good fit for the role on the basis that:

- I have good understanding of the London Area and I am familiar with many different venues across the city.

- I'm an advocate for self expression. I would help to facilitate events that maximise the means to do so.

- I would ensure to regularly collect and consider feedback from members within the society.

- I have an expansive and open music taste that spans many subgenres. This means it will be easier for me to plan and organise events that cater for different music tastes and backgrounds.

- I would liase with other officers to ensure measures are in place for safety and accessibility.

- I will be a 3rd year student when allocations will be made for positions, so I will be well versed with UCL expectations.

- I would aim to Implement more events for musicians. (I'm a guitarist🤓).

If elected for this position I will ensure to represent and uphold the values of the Rock and Metal Society.

Thank you for reading :)
