Quantum Society: Treasurer

As a Quantum enthusiast, I can safely say the Quantum society is the only place where ‘Quantum’ is the least nerdy thing you can say. Isn’t that incredible! Through this society, I have finally had the chance to say that I have developed this hobby of mine and met a niche and lovely community of individuals whether they be students, academics or industry leads. I’ve been able to learn an obscene amount of quantum jokes; teach people about the weird and wacky world we don’t see and participate in workshops to teach myself new skills through the society.

I want to play my part in making sure students get the same level of exposure as I have had this year. I know I would be able to achieve this as through the society I have met several industrial leads, academics and doctoral students. As Treasurer, I can leverage these connections to help bring fascinating lectures to campus. Furthermore, outside of making sure all the behind-the-scenes work is completed in a timely manner, I want to support other committee members as much as possible so that Quantum society can keep growing. I have proven this as an active committee member of the Baseball society, working as the Social Secretary and consistently hosting socials and running trainings throughout the year. I want to push this same work ethic to Quantum Society. 

Hello guys! I’m standing for treasurer because I would like to contribute my time to the progress of the Quantum Society and help establish the role it plays in educating and developing the interests of members within the fields of quantum technology. After completing the Qiskit Summer School internship last year, I developed a deeper interest and decided to join this Quantum society to pursue it.
Studying physics has made me very comfortable working with numbers and my personal pursuance of trading has added onto that as I regularly work with managing money and ensuring there is a strong financial plan in place. Using the skills I’ve gained from this, I would be able to ensure society funds are well-kept and a plan in mind for future events.
Quantum technology is a broad and fascinating field and there are many opportunities provided to learn more such as hackathons, panels, workshops and more. To be able to provide such opportunities, strong financial management is needed, which I believe I would provide. Furthermore, I would look to bring in extra funding through sponsorships that would benefit the society.
With my skills in maths and finance, I would be able to effectively carry out the role of Treasurer. With your support, a strong future can be secured for this society where you are the priority. Vote for me and I won’t disappoint!
