Punjabi Society: Welfare Officer

I would like to stand for the role of welfare officer in the Punjabi society to maintain a positive and cohesive environment. I believe that listening to queries and addressing issues is such an integral part of building any community and is an important step to strengthening the society.

I have experience in working at a care home which has enhanced my empathising abilities after being faced with situations where I was required to support staff and residents during difficult personal periods. I believe that these skills would aid me in position of welfare officer as an approachable point of contact for support. I am generally a "peoples' person" and I think the ability to communicate effectively with individuals who may have problems within the society would make solving any issues easier, thus improving the society step by step. 

Having had leadership roles of a similar nature before, I am good at seeing the bigger picture. I can successfully keep decisions aligned with the Punjabi society's core values, maintaining peace within the committee, and making it attractive to new members.

I look forward to hopefully supporting our society members on a personal level, and guiding decisions which impact the community on a greater level.
