I want to stand for Sponsorship Director because of how much I’ve genuinely loved all the events Punjabi Society hosted this year.
Lohri Ball especially stood out to me. The turnout was insane, and everything felt so professional and well put together. Seeing an event on that scale made me realise how much work goes on behind the scenes to make events like that happen and a huge part of that has to be funding and sponsorship.
That’s what drew me to the role. Securing sponsorships isn’t easy, and it comes with real responsibility because you’re representing the society while building relationships with businesses that directly contribute to its growth but I’m confident I can handle that.
I’m very organised, reliable and committed in how I approach tasks. I would take a structured approach to researching potential sponsors, keeping records of outreach, and working together with the marketing directors to ensure we deliver our end of the deal. I’d also want to try to build partnerships that aren’t just one off deals but something that can benefit the society long-term.
Punjabi Society has built an incredibly vibrant and welcoming community that celebrates culture while bringing people together through unforgettable events. From flagship events such as the Lohri Ball to weekly socials like Monday Mixie, the society creates spaces where people can celebrate Punjabi culture, connect with others, and build lasting friendships. The energy and inclusivity of the society is what makes it such a special part of the student experience.
Although I am not Punjabi myself, attending Punjabi Society events has always made me feel incredibly welcomed. The warmth, openness, and pride in sharing Punjabi culture is something that stood out to me immediately. It showed me how powerful a society can be when it creates an environment where everyone feels comfortable celebrating and learning from one another. That is exactly the culture I would want to help foster and grow.
As Sponsorship Officer, I would focus on building strong partnerships with businesses that align with the society’s audience, including restaurants, fashion brands, nightlife venues, and student-focused companies. Through these partnerships, I would aim to support events and create opportunities that benefit both the society and its members.
In line with this year’s initiative to make events bigger, better, and more inclusive, I would bring a proactive and positive approach to the role while working closely with the committee to build meaningful partnerships.
I’m applying for the role of Sponsorship Officer as I enjoy building relationships and helping initiatives grow through strong partnerships.
Throughout school I played a major role in organising and leading charity initiatives, helping raise over £30,000 for charitable causes through fundraising campaigns and community events. This involved coordinating teams, reaching out to external supporters, and encouraging people to contribute to causes we believed in. Through this experience, I developed strong communication, organisation, and outreach skills that are directly relevant to securing sponsorships and maintaining partnerships.
Alongside this, I also founded my school’s Economics & Finance Society, where I organised events and brought students together around shared interests.
I can use my expertise to maximise funds for psoc so we can run the best events next year.
Most importantly, I'm just a great guy to be around.😹
