Public Speaking Society: Vice-President

As your current First Year Representative and Welfare Officer, I have been actively involved in the Public Speaking Society since the start of the academic year.

I have contributed to competition organisation, led skill-sharing sessions and group activities, but above all ensured that our members feel welcomed and supported.

One of my main contributions has been growing our LinkedIn presence. Since October, I have managed the society's page by creating weekly posts to promote our activities online. During this period, the page has grown from 11 to 43 followers and generated almost 5,000 views.

You may be thinking: who cares?

Increasing our online presence helps attract new members, improves our ties with other public speaking societies, and makes it easier for us to collaborate with the best guest speakers, coaches, and authors in the public speaking space.

When elected as Vice President, I will take our society to the next level by:
- Organising socials and events outside weekly sessions to strengthen our community
- Supporting the President with admin tasks that currently divert his focus from expanding the society's activities
- Reviving the speech mentorship programme to support members who want more personalised feedback

The Public Speaking Society is very important to me. I want to continue contributing to our world-class society, where members can develop their confidence, communication skills, and leadership.
