Election post
Hello!! I am Gabriel, a first-year economics student. Studying in a UK state school makes me feel distant from my home city. After being a member of UCLPASS, it has given me a rich sense of belonging through various social events and external flagships. It has also helped me reconnect with my home through a series of external public affairs events like public speaking and debating.
Serving as my secondary school’s finance, economics and trading society vice president has given me the skill to organise event effectively and I understand the importance of actively seeking feedback, the effectiveness of communication and teamwork. I believe my commitment to communicate clearly with others and constantly giving and receiving feedback would allow me to succeed in this role.
President serves as a gateway between UCLPASS and other PASSes, it is important to have good relationship with different parties outside of UCLPASS. I believe my past experience will help me thrive in this role.As an active member in UCLPASS this year, I had made a lot of friends along the way. It had helped me to become a more outgoing person but also gaining valuable knowledge on public affairs and social services.I ought to give back to this society as president next year by helping Hong Kong people that is new to this country and new to this university. Also, organising more external events with other universities to help this community grow as a whole.
