Hi everyone, since the club was founded last year, I’ve managed the club’s social media and helped promote and organise events including the Christmas dinner, start-of-season dinner, overseas trips and summer socials at Guards.
My focus has been building a professional and engaging public presence to convince new members to get involved and to promote the club to sponsors and the wider polo community!
In the last year I have:
• Grown our social platforms from 0 to 100,000+ monthly views at peak
• Increased followers from 230 to 750+ in six months
• Ran promotion for events across the UK and internationally, helping bring together 38 playing members and 60+ people involved in club events (from black tie dinners to spectating at Ham)
• Helped establish a professional image that contributed to sponsorship from Black Hound for the French National Championship, alongside discounts with major polo brands to reduce playing costs
• Produced event photography for UCL that was featured twice in Polo Times
Next year I plan to:
• Expand casual TikTok content highlighting the social side of the club
• Produce match highlights for Instagram stories
• Livestream matches on Instagram/YouTube
• Continue building relationships with clubs, brands and publications to strengthen the club and help secure sponsorships that reduce playing costs.
I hope to keep strengthening the club’s visibility while encouraging both playing and social members to get involved through our social media throughout the year
Hey everyone! I’m Bella and I would like to nominate myself for a Publicity Secretary position. I started playing polo at the University of Warwick and have been lucky to continue training during my gap year and now at UCL. It’s been a pleasure meeting and playing with all of you. I’m deeply passionate about the UCL polo club and want to contribute to its growth and development. I’ve always admired the dynamic nature of this sport - how it combines elegance, speed and teamwork and would love to capture it on camera and share it across the club’s media outlets.
Social media is a reflection of our club to outsiders and it’s integral to maintaining a strong reputation both within the university and across the wider polo community. It’s also the primary way of attracting potential members and sponsors. I would be committed to growing the club’s following on Instagram and TikTok by creating consistent, aesthetic and engaging content and by developing strategies to increase reach and interaction.
I believe I would be a good fit for this role as I enjoy photography and would love to showcase the club’s atmosphere - whether it’s lessons, tournaments or spectating trips and social events. I have completed a Fashion Media course at UAL which taught me marketing, trend analysis and visual storytelling - skills I would use to create a polished media direction. I have also managed Instagram for a reselling business which allowed us to connect with customers through content creation.
