Millie Mak

After helping establish the club in 2024 and serving on committee this year, I’m running for social secretary so I can lead you all into some gloriously unhinged days and nights out.
If I were to be elected, my ideas for next year would include weekly Wednesday student nights that are actually planned, organised, and not made up as we go along. Growing up in London and entering my third year, I’ve accumulated a frankly concerning amount of experience in student nightlife. I will be putting this to use. Expect pub crawls, Scala, new venues, and themes that don’t make you question your life choices (so no princess‑and‑the‑frog or traffic‑light disasters).
I also want to grow UCL Polo’s presence across campus. Voting for me means shared socials, more friends, more chaos, more people wondering how they ended up at a polo social on a Wednesday. And yes, I will do everything in my power to pull off a ball next year. No promises, but I will secure tables at others so the wine‑and‑dine lifestyle continues uninterrupted.
I plan on sophistication as well: dinners, sober socials, and days out watching polo. Outside UCL, I work in horse racing, am an Invades ambassador, and am involved in point‑to‑points, so I can guarantee some elite outings.
We’re also planning affiliated trips - from intensive polo camps to snow polo in St. Moritz. And don’t panic: at least one trip will be budget‑friendly.
There’s a standard to uphold here: rowdy but respectable. Can’t wait to see you all next year!

I’m nominating myself for Club Captain because polo has been a huge part of my life since I started playing at 11, and I’d love the chance to give back to the club in a leadership role. I’m really passionate about the sport and about helping create an environment where everyone can improve, enjoy themselves, and feel supported within the squad. I aim to lead by example through commitment at training, punctuality, and encouraging teammates so we can all get the most out of the season.

I’d work closely with the club to help organise training sessions and tournaments efficiently, while also contributing to setting clear goals for the year. I’m organised and happy to get involved with the behind-the-scenes logistics like coordinating transport or tournament plans to help things run smoothly.

Just as importantly, I love the social side of the club. I’ll be at the socials, getting involved and helping build a strong team culture both on and off the field. I care a lot about UCL Polo and would really enjoy helping the club continue to grow, compete well, and have a great time doing it.
