Amara Mighty

Over the past two years on committee, first as Treasurer and then as Vice-President, I have had the privilege of helping shape and support this incredible club. Through supervising open practices, supporting members, and managing communications, I have developed a deep understanding of our community and how powerful Pole can be in someone’s university experience.

This year, I am standing for Welfare Officer because I am passionate about ensuring that Pole Club is a safe, empowering cornerstone of student life. University can be overwhelming, and for many of us Pole is where we decompress, build confidence, strengthen our mind–body connection, and find belonging. I want to protect and develop that space.

This year, I advocated for and introduced beginner-only practice sessions to create a less intimidating environment for new members, and I coordinated our Movember charity event.

As Welfare Officer, I would focus on clear and approachable welfare pathways, promoting healthy training habits, supporting members through injury or confidence dips, and ensuring sessions and socials remain inclusive and respectful. I would also introduce regular welfare-focused socials outside of the studio to strengthen connections.

As a third-year PhD student, I understand the pressures of university life and how important a supportive community can be. I care deeply about this club and would love to dedicate myself to nurturing its welfare and inclusivity.

I wanted to join Pole Fitness society throughout the whole of first year but never had the confidence. After watching an amazing showcase in Phineas, I finally got up the courage to join in the second term of second year. Pole Fitness society has been incredibly welcoming, I feel comfortable, supported and have incredible fun at class. It makes me feel strong and confident in my skin, and I feel motivated to do better in each class I attend, and work on my skills outside of class. I would love to give back to the society, and believe that I could help other students who feel nervous about joining the society due to meeting new people or feeling insecure about their skill level. I would like to use my personal experience to encourage them to overcome their mental blocks, so they can reap the amazing benefits of Pole Fitness just like I am. As I attend a beginners class, I would also love a chance to integrate more into the society, meet new people and form bonds. I believe I could really help people as Welfare officer with my own firsthand experience, and hopefully give them helpful advice as I myself progress in the society. Practically, I am organised, passionate and love speaking with people and advising them, so I believe I would be a good fit for this role. Thank you
