For the wellbeing of all poker enthusiasts at UCL.
You probably know my face from the weekly game, and if you don't, you will next week (ignore the mughsot). The society I love deserves to be run well behind the scenes, and that starts with the finances.
As Treasurer I will make sure the money side of things actually works, entry fees collected properly, prize pools paid out correctly, and society funds allocated so we can run more and better events. The boring stuff that nobody notices until it goes wrong. Here is what I will focus on:
-Clean and transparent tracking of all entry fees, payouts, and society funds
-Making sure prize pools are structured fairly and paid out without the usual chaos
-Working closely with the President to ensure we have the budget to run bigger tournaments, more cash games, and proper teaching events
-Keeping enough in reserve so the society is not living hand to mouth between events
I have experience building financial pipelines and managing capital allocation from my time at Aditya Birla Group, so I know how to keep numbers clean and processes running smoothly. I will bring that same rigour to making sure this society's finances are in good shape.
The game deserves a proper bank. I will be it.
Why am I standing? Because I simply love poker. I am a seasoned regular at UCL poker soc and have been hooked since the first few sessions where I managed to win a hand off Jean (current treasurer) who was not happy about it and proceeded to educate me on how I anti-GTO. He even recommended a poker book for me. I still have much to learn, but I am reaching final tables now and I will win a tournament before I leave.
Beyond my love for poker I believe I'm qualified to do a good job as treasurer. I am going to be doing Audit at Deloitte this summer (exciting) so I am confident that will put me in good stead to keep track of finances. What stands me apart is my ability to command the room which is much needed when dealing with 40 rowdy gamblers trying to buy-in. From what I gathered the other day I am best suited for that particular role. LISTEN UP... attention is given... proceed to give commands. I also like to think that I'm a friendly approachable person who will be reliable and fun to work with and also create a fun environment for seasoned and new poker players alike. Vote for me or I'll go all in blind on you x
