hey! I'm Haziq, I’m a first year student studying Physics here at UCL.
i'm going for treasurer because the better the money is managed, the better the events and experiences the physics society can bring to members — and that's something I actually want to have a hand in. during my gap year I've interned under a financial manager where I've worked on monthly reports, liquidity analysis, financial statements and cutting down on inefficiencies — so I have some real experience to bring to the role.
outside of academia, i love going to the gym, going on late night drives, traveling around the world and meeting new people!
I'm drawn to the research side of physics as i currently aspire to go to grad school so I want to help make sure the society can actually fund that — whether that's bringing in better speakers, lab visits, or events that go beyond the lecture hall.
and it's not just about the numbers — if other committee members need a hand with anything, i'm there for that too. a good committee works together and I want to be part of that.
if all this sounds good — i'd love to have your vote!
Hello! I'm Sherry and I'm a first year physics student. I'm running to be your treasurer!
I've been a regular attender of physics society events over the course of my first year and I feel so much better for it. Physics society helped me settle in initially through social events where I got to meet other people in my year and talk to older years about what to expect on the course. It has also been massively useful in helping me decide what to do in the future through PHD panels and talks from professors about their own research. I believe that physics society is a very valuable bonus to being a physics student at UCL and for anyone else interested in physics. Therefore I would like to help provide this space for next year.
Needless to say, as someone on a STEM degree I am fully confident in my ability to handle all of physics society's finances. I have also had relevant experience working with other people to run two different societies in secondary school. I would be honoured to have the opportunity to be your treasurer.
I’m nominating myself for Treasurer of the Physics Society for a second year because this role has allowed me to make a meaningful, measurable contribution to our community - and I’m committed to building on that progress. Over the past year, I’ve strengthened the society’s financial systems, introduced clearer budgeting processes, and ensured that every event - from academic talks to socials - ran smoothly, transparently, and within budget. That experience means I can step into the role again without a learning curve and immediately focus on improving what already works.
My wider involvement across UCL has shaped me into a more capable and connected leader. Being elected as Accommodation & Housing Officer, Vice President of Jain Society, and Technology Officer for the Mathematics Society has deepened my understanding of how different student groups operate and how strong financial management underpins successful initiatives. These roles have taught me how to balance responsibility, communicate across teams, and deliver consistently under pressure - skills that directly strengthen my work.
What motivates me most is the impact this role has on the student experience. I want to continue making our events more ambitious, accessible, and well‑supported, while leaving behind systems that future committees can rely on. I care deeply about this society and the community it creates, and I’m ready to use my experience, relationships, and momentum to deliver an even stronger year ahead.
