Pathology Society: Education Officer

Hi, I’m Zainab, a 5th year medic. I’ve been running Pathology events at UCL and nationally - in collaboration with the Royal College of Pathologists and other universities’ student Pathology Societies - for the past five years. I spent four years in MedSoc as Pathology Academic Officer, then Pathology Chair, promoting and teaching pathology to medical students.

I saw a need for pathology education and events beyond the MBBS curriculum. Therefore this year we established Pathology Society in its own right, aimed at increasing interest in and knowledge of pathology across disciplines and levels of study.

For next year, I would love to be Education Officer.
I aim to organise:
• interactive specimen-based teaching at UCL Pathology Museum
• tutorials for life science students
• educational events exploring the lesser known aspects of Pathology, e.g. health (in)equity and social determinants of health in cancer pathology, haematology and infectious disease
• trips to museums and exhibitions across London
• interactive quizzes 
• journal clubs to discuss latest developments in pathology, including work being done at UCL and our industry partners
