Nigerian Society: Treasurer

Hi, my name is Chiamaka and I’d love to be considered for the role of Treasurer of Nigerian Society. 

First of all, obviously, as an Igbo person, I like to think that a love for finances is practically in my DNA, so you’d be in very capable hands.

But on a more serious note, beyond that stereotype, I do have genuine experience handling money that makes me a good fit for this role. During my IB, I was part of teams that managed a lot of the finances for our fundraising events, which involved handling collections, tracking our spending and working with the school office to access our funds. Also, on a personal level, I am someone who enjoys making budgets and keeping track of where my money goes (not in an obsessive way, of course). 

Nigerian Society has been a very welcoming community for me and I feel that taking on the Treasurer role would be a meaningful way to contribute to it, while also developing real skills in financial planning, budgeting, and working within a committee.

Finally, I like to believe I am a very reliable person with amazing attention to detail. I take responsibilities very seriously and follow through on commitments religiously. I also work well within a team and genuinely enjoy being part of a group working towards a common goal.

I’d be honoured to help support the society’s growth and make sure our finances are managed with care.
