As someone who has helped the natsci society all year, I believe I’m perfectly suited for treasurer. Not only am I organised, but I’m also fantastic with numbers and I’m committed to making the society a lot better by organising more academic events (something sorely missed this year) but also making events cheaper by finding external sources of funding.

Ayla Kabbani

I am standing for Treasurer of the Natural Sciences Society because I want to take on a leadership role that allows me to contribute to the society’s growth by making events accessible and engaging for all members while developing my financial skills alongside my degree.

My experience as Operations Manager at Young Enterprise has provided me with invaluable exposure to budgeting, strategic leadership and strong organisational skills. Working closely with finance, marketing, and sales teams, I helped monitor costs and manage supply chains. This experience has strengthened my ability to work collaboratively while maintaining attention to financial detail. Furthermore, interning at a textile business exposed me to financial management, including organising invoices and observing cash flow.

Beyond finance, captaining my school and club lacrosse teams taught me commitment, teamwork and how to motivate and support a team under pressure. I have also organised many fundraisers for a primary school in The Gambia which required initiative, planning and clear communication.

As Treasurer, I will ensure clear record-keeping, well-structured budgeting for our events and allocation of funds to maximise value for members. I am organised, approachable and passionate about helping the society thrive. I would love the opportunity to contribute to the society’s growth next year.

Thank you for your time and consideration.
