Music Society: President

Hello! I am Matthew, the current equipment officer of the society, and I am running for next year's president. You will probably see me around in different ensembles like Concert band , Symphony Orchestra or any other groups, or in the University of London Symphony Orchestra, in musicals like SisterAct and Spamalot or shows like Rhapsody, where my roles vary between different instruments.

Being in multiple ensembles and as a committee member means that I have a good understanding of how things work in every corner of the society. It gives me valuable insight on how each ensemble wants to achieve and what the people are like in each group, and this will no doubt help me provide the best for each ensemble during my time as president. Outside of the society, I’ve been involved in other music events with other societies, and this will aid my communication with the society as president.

One of my many goals for being president is to strengthen the connection between our society and other societies to create more opportunities for members and more chances for playing and making good music. And to also uphold the reputation and quality of the music society, where we have some of the best musicians at UCL. There are many more things that I would like to contribute to the society that I cannot fully list on here, like putting on more socials or setting up more ensembles.
