Music Society: Head Orchestral Manager

Hello! I'm Lauren, one of the Mezzo Orchestra managers and violist in String and Mezzo Orchestras (and briefly in Symphony last year). Music Society has been a welcoming space and a second or third family to me; I strive to sustain and continuously build on this for our members. I plan to: 

1. Facilitate streamlined, clear and concise communication between ensembles and within them.  Music Society is a huge network and can be hard to navigate through. I plan to establish direct communication between orchestral ensemble managers and members through encouraging managerial efficiency and monitoring ensemble communication. 
2. Upkeep this inclusive and welcoming community for all musicians of any level. I'd also like to establish small, student-led classes for musicians to work on their skills and build confidence outside of the mainstream orchestral ensembles. Think more sectionals (if required!) or extra lessons that provide a comfortable environment for individual improvement and support. 

3. Embrace UCL's multiculturality by encouraging more performances of international and/or student-composed pieces. If possible, I'd like to encourage for the addition of international repertoire, to be more representative of UCL's international diversity. We also have talented student composers in our midst that deserve recognition; playing their original pieces would truly distinguish Music Society by celebrating student talent and creativity.
