Joining Muay Thai society has truly been one of the best things I have done in my time here at UCL so far. Through this society I have made some of my good friends and have realised that the real society aspect not only comes through the teamwork in pads or sparring but the jocular moments between rounds, walks back from training and the obviously the social events that have been held.  As a social secretary, my mission would be simple and push further an ethos that has already been established in this society: to make sure every member, from the newcomers to the experienced fighters, feel as if they have place.

So why vote for me? As someone who has lived in London their whole life, I would say I don't just know a spot, I know the spot for every occasion. Furthermore,  I've been urging many friends to join the society, since I'm having a great experience, however they say that generally joining a combat sport can be daunting and often procrastinate coming to the sessions. One thing I would do is implement a social buddy system, paring newcomers with members to ensure that they become part of the Muay Thai family immediately.  I've built great relationships with the current committee and want to build on your legacy, ensuring that the socials hosted and the community made is envied by other societies. I'm not just running to plan socials but to make sure that the bonds people build in this society translates into long lasting relationships.

Hey everyone, I’m Tianjing (TJ)! I’m at training pretty much all the time, so I’ve gotten to know the club’s energy inside out.  UCL Muay Thai isn’t just about throwing kicks; it’s about discipline, respect, and community FR, and I’d love to help show that off as your next PR Officer.

I recently fought at the UCLMT UFN as a complete beginner, which gave me real insight into the work and heart that go into every performance. It’s made me want to highlight our members’ journeys — from first pad session to fight night — in a way that feels authentic and inspiring.

Outside the ring, I’ve got experience publicising events and managing social media, so I know how to keep things engaging while staying professional. For me, PR isn’t just posting pictures it’s storytelling. I want our socials to reflect what makes this club special: progress, friendship, and passion for the sport.

If elected, I’ll keep our online presence sharp and active, spotlight our fighters and beginners alike, build connections with other Muay Thai clubs, and make sure our content looks as strong as our kicks.

I’m always around, always ready to help, and genuinely proud to represent this team. Becoming PR Officer would be my way of giving back to the club that’s given me so much.

I recently joined Muay Thai society, and have found the atmosphere so supportive, met great people and found the classes incredibly motivational and enjoyable. It has really brought something new and beneficial to my university experience. I would like to be public relations secretary as I would love the opportunity to raise awareness about this club, and how amazing it can be, hopefully drawing in new members and making current members feel proud and supported. I didn’t have the confidence for the first term of second year to come to classes, after beginning to attend my confidence grows every single day and I want to get more and more involved in different classes, fights and all aspects of the club. I think this would be an amazing opportunity to form closer relationships with the society, with people who share the same passion and motivation for the sport that I have developed. As someone who enjoys the society so much I would love a chance to give back to it, and raise attention towards it so other students can gain the confidence to join and have as much fun as I have, while gaining strength and self-confidence. Practically, I have always enjoyed photography, which is why this role calls out to me in particular. I also enjoy working as part of a team and collaborating with other people on shared interests, which is a large part of being on committee. I would like to use my personal experience to become more integrated within the club that has given so much to me!
