As the director and welfare manager of a volunteer project in Singapore, and an engagement manager at London Strategic Consulting, I was involved in structuring proposals and securing partnerships with companies for sponsorships of venues and resources for events. These experiences have taught me how to pitch to companies and donors, present a compelling narrative, and clearly communicate our needs to clients. I am able to clearly outline deliverables, ensure sponsors see measurable value from their investment, and leverage technology to help find sponsors and their contacts. Thus, I am confident in my ability to secure meaningful sponsorships for UCL's MedTech society to improve the resources and opportunities our society has access to. Rather than one-off transactions, I aim to secure more recurring partnerships that support workshops, speaker events, and networking sessions.
I am an organized, proactive and detail-oriented person, and I believe these are qualities which are essential for this role which requires one to stay on top of deadlines, track sponsor communication and deliverables. Hence, I believe that if given the opportunity to be the sponsorship chair, I will ensure steady growth and expansion of our society.
I’m standing for Sponsorship Executive because I genuinely enjoy connecting with people and building partnerships. I want to help the society grow by bringing in sponsors who can make our events bigger and better, and I’m ready to take initiative and see things through. As an academic officer for the Biochemistry Society, I’ve previously organised a Biohackathon, which taught me how to coordinate teams, manage logistics, and follow through on big projects. I hope to bring a fresh perspective to sponsorships, securing creative partnerships that not only support our events but also help organise a society-wide hackathon and many more events next year.
