Hi everyone! My name is Amadeus, a Biomedical Science student.
Having participated in the MedTech Mentorship Programme last year, I benefited from gaining clearer career insights and valuable guidance for my future. This experience inspired me to further develop and strengthen this meaningful programme, enabling more students to grow with confidence and clarity in their academic and professional journeys.
As a 1st Year Representative of the Neuroscience Society this year, I liaised with professors and other universities for the 20th Anniversary Neuroscience Conference. Drafting emails and coordinating with different teams strengthened my ability to connect students with academic and professional opportunities. Additionally, as a social service team in HKPASS, I helped organize the flagship event “Amazing Raise,” a full-day event that attracted around 120 students from different universities and raised funds for a charity supporting educational equality. Through these experiences, I have developed strong skills in organisation and teamwork, and have learned to consider feasibility, participant engagement, and resource allocation in management. If elected, I aim to build upon the existing mentorship framework by strengthening connections with professionals and expanding internship opportunities. This will allow our members to gain practical experience and enhance their CVs.
Having participated in the 2025 MedTech Mentorship Programme, I experienced first-hand what thoughtful mentorship can offer. Over four sessions with Alexander Constantinou — who transitioned from prosthetics into a sales role at Medtronic — I gained perspectives rarely found in academic settings and saw how non-linear MedTech careers can be. Hearing how mentorship shaped his own trajectory motivated me to take on a leadership role and extend that experience to future cohorts.
As Chair, I would introduce a Mentor Spotlight series — recorded, opt-in sessions in which mentors from different sectors share their career journeys and take questions, giving mentees a broader map of the industry beyond their assigned group. A peer-led Session Zero would allow previous mentees to share what they wished they had known at the outset, building continuity across cohorts. At the close of each cycle, an anonymised Mentee Resource Bank — compiled from post-programme reflections — would capture the most useful insights and pass them on to all incoming cohorts, so the programme's value compounds over time. Post-cycle feedback would include a question too rarely asked: did you keep in touch with your mentor once the programme ended, and if not, what stopped you?
I am passionate about team leadership and fostering meaningful relationships with industry professionals, and I hope to channel both into growing this programme so that every future cohort leaves with the same inspiration I received.
Since joining in September, I have actively participated in multiple MedTech events and experienced the Mentorship Programme from a mentee’s perspective; I observed both its value and its challenges. Due to the programme’s popularity, matching mentors and mentees was complex. While effort was made to connect participants and provide onboarding information, groups were still unclear about scheduling tools, meeting platforms, and programme logistics. Thus, mentoring time was sometimes lost to coordination issues rather than meaningful discussion. I will focus on strengthening the programme’s structure so mentors and mentees can make the most of their time together. This includes clearer onboarding guidance, how to set up scheduling platforms, transparent meeting dates and formats set in advance, and more structured activities during programme orientation. My goal is to ensure every mentor and mentee feels prepared, supported, and able to benefit fully from the experience.
Alongside my involvement in MedTech Society, I serve as an Academic Representative for a new programme, where I help connect resources to address the academic and personal concerns of over 360 students and collaborate with the education committee on broader improvements. Combined with my experience guiding young people as a camp counsellor, I am confident in my ability to support participants and help strengthen the Mentorship Programme so it becomes even more accessible and impactful for future participants.
Hi everyone, this is Lorrine! As an active participant in this year’s mentorship program, I'm excited to put myself forward as your next Mentorship Chair.
Having gained invaluable insight into both industry and academia through conversations with my mentor, I am especially motivated to bring this high-calibre program to all MedTech enthusiasts. As a mentorship program lead, I aim to:
🌱 Expand the scope of mentors to include a wider variety of fields and roles, allowing more members to participate as mentees
📜 Provide clear discussion guidelines for both mentors and mentees to ensure everyone makes the most out of their meetings
🔗 Host an open-to-all networking session for both mentees and other members to forge connections with mentors
🔨 Organise skill-building workshops where mentors will share their perspectives on finding your career path, crafting the perfect CV or polishing interview techniques
🎥 Film bite-sized videos with mentors to provide quick insights into what different MedTech jobs can look like
My experience in leadership and event organisation, along with my passion for making a change, make me the perfect fit for the Mentorship Chair role. With your support, we can shape the MedTech mentorship program into what you want it to be!
