Medical Society: Radiology Chair

Hi my name is Aaqil!

Having served on the Radiology Society subcommittee last year, I have seen firsthand the strong foundation built by previous chairs. I have previously held the roles of Vice Chair and Preclinical Education, giving me experience in organising events, teaching, and student engagement.

My background in medical physics and biomedical engineering has also given me a broader perspective on radiology, particularly its scientific, technological, and interdisciplinary aspects.

My aims are innovation, collaboration, and exposure. I want the society to be a dynamic platform for education, research, and professional growth. Key goals include:

Research Opportunities: creating pathways for students to work with diagnostic and interventional radiologists on audit, quality improvement, and basic science research projects.

Lecture Series: hosting talks across radiology subspecialties to showcase the breadth of the field, encourage networking, and link students with peers and clinicians for teaching, guidance, and career insight, while ensuring the series is relevant to UCL preclinical students and the MLA.

National Conference: continuing the annual undergraduate radiology conference in collaboration with other universities.

Interdisciplinary Networking: working with fields such as engineering and medical physics to broaden perspectives.

I hope to build on the society’s success while delivering engaging new opportunities for students.
