Hello everyone! I’m Hann, and I’m running to be one of your Events Directors for the next Malaysian Society committee 🫡🇲🇾
Why Events Director?
Because I genuinely enjoy organising things, bringing people together, and yes… stressing slightly over spreadsheets, bookings, and deadlines so you don’t have to.
✨ What I’ll bring to the role
1. Events people actually want to attend
Not events for the sake of it, but ones that are:
- fun, inclusive, and well-planned
- balanced between chill socials and flagship events
- welcoming whether you’re a first-year or a final-year ghost 👻
2. Organisation without the chaos
I’ll make sure events are:
- planned early
- clearly budgeted with the Treasurer
- coordinated with Publicity so everyone knows what’s happening
3. Strong coordination behind the scenes
I’ll liaise with SU and venues, handle bookings responsibly, and work closely with other departments — because teamwork > solo missions 💪
4. Someone you can actually talk to
Got ideas? Feedback? Timing a bit off? I’m always open to listening.
🫶 My goal
To make MSoc events something you genuinely look forward to — and help UCL feel a little more like home 🇲🇾❤️
If you want smoother events, better coordination, and a bit of humour along the way, I’d really appreciate your vote for Events Director 🗳️

MSOC is where I found my people. Being in a course with barely any other Malaysians, I have missed the sense of familiarity that MSOC events offer. From the chaos of production week to the late-night ketayap sessions, what started as simply showing up to events became some of my favourite first-year memories.
As an Events Director, I have three clear priorities for the year ahead. Firstly, more social events that foster meaningful bondings, whether that’s outings to Edinburgh, Seven Sisters hike, or, if the budget allows, even a European trip! I also want to maintain consistency for existing events such as theatre outings, inter-uni and society collaborations, as well as new initiatives such as Cultural Week, MSOC Family Game Day, and charity fundraisers where we give back to society. Secondly, I want to work closely with our Corporate Relations officer to strengthen alumni connections and create more networking opportunities. These will go beyond a one-off talk, rather they will serve as networking spaces where current members can connect with Malaysian alumni more effectively. Lastly, I would like to see MSOC continue to grow as an inclusive space. This means actively encouraging non-Malaysians to participate and experience our culture. MSOC will continue to be a space where everyone (Malaysian or not) feels comfortable showing up.
Because at the end of the day, the best events are not the biggest ones, but the ones you are glad you showed up to.
Hi everyone, I'm Xin Nee! As a student who moved abroad alone for the first time, UCLMSoc definitely made me feel like I had a home away from home. That is why I am running to be your Events Director - I want to continue cultivating this sense of community and togetherness within UCLMSoc by organising events that celebrate inclusivity, diversity, and most definitely the familiar Malaysian vibe for all my kawan-kawan.
Have a look at my manifesto to check out my event plans for UCLMSoc Year 26/27! Beyond these plans, I will actively reach out to members of our community to gather ideas for future events and collect feedback after each event. I believe this is important to ensure every event continues to improve and better serve our community.
Being in the MSoc Representative Director programme significantly enriched my experience and insight into event-planning, particularly in managing internal decisions and external stakeholder engagements. I believe this experience, together with my past leadership roles has equipped me with creativity, organisational and leadership skills - necessary qualities of an Events Director!
I find great joy in organising events where people leave with smiles and lasting memories. I look forward to bringing my passion and experiences to serve our community, our home away from home.
With that said, Vote Xin Nee Yee for Events Director.
Sekian, terima kasih.
Ive always enjoyed planning events throughout high school and college. Seeing strangers become friends through shared experiences sparked my interest in this role. My ambition in this particular position is to unify Malaysians across different background through various events, let it be cultural, sports or careers. Being away from home isn’t always easy so I wish to bring them here and create vibrant community that supports growth and opportunity. I aim to enrich university experience through friendships and cultural connections.
