HELLO to my fellow Mahjong soc member! I am Miranda and as an incredibly motivated and enthusiastic individual, I have hit a 100% attendance rate here with Mahjong Soc (incredible results given my lecture attendance)!! My experience: been playing Mahjong since my fetal years, and have locked in as your treasurer securing nothing but good wins and fortunes for us all!!
Why vote for me?
- To maximise playing time next year because MORE MAHJONG = MORE FUN! I hope to secure more rooms and tables so that you don’t have to wait for another player to swap out to play!
- Never remember the person you play with? No worries! From our regular socials to our games night at Phineas, I hope to introduce a friendlier social environment so we at least remember who we lost 9 faan to last Friday.
- LET US REJOICE with our brothers and sisters in other societies; I loved having Chinese arts society over for Spring festival, and Bubble tea society over for discounted drinks (I hope you did too!!)! Let me be the olive branch to nurturing ties to amazing societies and keep these traditions rolling!
Jokes aside, it was an incredibly humbling opportunity this year to have shared moments with the Mahjong Soc this year; and I would love to go ahead and finish my last year of studies as your Prez – another BANGER year with the new Mahjong Soc committee (and me :>)!
So please cast your vote, for every single one of matters, and I hope to be the vessel to your voice in the upcoming year with UCL Mahjong Society!
Hi I’m Dylon, and I’m excited to run for President!
As your Engagement Officer in 2025-26, I’m a familiar face to many. I’ve helped our society achieve many ‘1sts’, as I curated our 1st Discard Puzzle Initiative in Term 1, proposed and hosted 2 Beginner’s Workshops, and even now own our 1st-ever Singapore Mahjong Set!
Moving forward, I hope to contribute further as President, and improve our current initiatives!
Many of you have raised concerns that there are insufficient tickets, as we are restricted by room size and the number of sets. To address this issue, I propose initiatives for our most enthusiastic members, where they can volunteer to help our society for key events and workshops, in exchange for GUARANTEED ENTRY to weekly socials.
For our Riichi, Singapore, Taiwanese, Malaysian, Sichuan and other Mahjong variant players, I hear you too! As someone who regularly plays other variants of Mahjong as well, I understand your challenges in filling up a table, or find like-minded members who can teach others how to play other Mahjong variants. As President, I am committed to making other variants more inclusive. I am ready to host NEW WORKSHOPS myself, and with the help of the rest of the committee, teach and learn other variants of Mahjong.
Despite placing ‘2nd’ in UCL’s Preliminary Tournament, I know our society is ready to achieve many ‘1sts’ together, and hopefully also win some ‘1st’ place mahjong wins along the way! Vote for me, vote for a more inclusive Mahjong Society!
