I’m running for Outreach Director because I believe Mahjong is at its best when more people get to experience it together. To me, outreach isn’t just about increasing numbers — it’s about creating opportunities. When we collaborate with other societies or connect with different universities, we bring in new playing styles, new perspectives, and new friendships. That energy benefits everyone, whether you’re a beginner trying your first session or a regular looking for more competitive games.

Having played different styles of mahjong over the years, I’ve seen how the game naturally connects people across cultures and backgrounds. A single table can turn strangers into teammates within minutes. I’d love to help expand that sense of community beyond our usual circle. I’m confident in communicating with others, reaching out to new contacts, and turning ideas into actual events. I enjoy planning collaborations and making sure they’re welcoming and well-organised so that members feel excited — not overwhelmed.

If elected, I will:
• Build partnerships with other societies for fun collaboration events
• Organise friendly inter-university tournaments
• Create outreach sessions that are beginner-friendly and inviting
• Represent our society in a positive and approachable way

Eventually, I want outreach to benefit all of us, bringing in fresh energy, more opportunities to play, and a stronger, more connected Mahjong community!

Lincoln Kwan

Hello everyone,

I’m Lincoln and I’m excited to nominate myself for the position of Outreach Officer. My long-standing passion for mahjong has led me to spend two amazing years with the society. I'm looking to take the next step forward from being an active member to a leading contributor within the society, and I believe that the role of Outreach Officer is best tailored to my vision and skills.

As Outreach Officer, I will focus on building meaningful connections that expand our reach and create new opportunities for our members. I bring a wealth of experience in behind-the-scenes work at UCL student societies, having coordinated large-scale collaborative events such as hackathons which involve clear communication and extensive planning. I am committed to the society's long-term growth and intend to explore partnership opportunities that support larger events and broaden our impact. I'm very eager to realize my vision of connecting Mahjong Society to the wider UCL community and establishing us as a vibrant and welcoming space for all mahjong enthusiasts.
