Hi everyone! 🫶🏻
I’m Chelsea Cheng, a Geography with Social Data Science student. While my academic interest skew towards researching the interactions between health, inequality and space, involving datasets and regression models, my personal interest on wellbeing exceeds far beyond research .
During my free time, I love to read about Traditional Chinese Medicine, Huangdi Neijing is absolutely my favourite. Its philosophy of prevention, balance and harmony within our bodies, made me realised that health is not reactive but something we cultivated into daily lives through choices and habits.
I’m running as your ✨President of the Lifestyle Medicine Society✨because I believe student’s health and wellbeing deserves more than temporary fixes. Lifestyle medicine rooted in preventative science, exercise, nutrition, mindfulness and habits aligns with my academic interest and personal values.
My vision is to create a society that is 💗energising and empowering💕. Along with the team, I hope to host workshops, fitness sessions and honest and safe conversation about our wellness. Sustain a space where we can restore ourselves and reset from the intensive university life. I aim to bring a researched-informed and evidence-based perspective to our initiatives, ensuring our activities are not only inspiring but also impactful to our wellness. Creating a community where wellbeing is proactive, shared and in equilibrium.
💫Vote for me as your President!!
Hi I am Ashley, a 2nd year Nutrition and Medical Sciences student, and I am running for president of the Lifestyle Medicine society.
As a nutrition student, I have developed a strong interest in health and wellness. I have experienced how lifestyle changes can positively influence my mood and confidence, and they motivate me to raise awareness of the benefits of wellness habits across UCL community. For this reason, I am excited to run for President of Lifestyle Medicine Society.
I have gained teamwork experience as a committee member of the Musical Theatre Society. It strengthened my communication skills and taught me how planning is essential for maintaining an engaged society. In addition, during sixth form I served as the Managing Director of a student company. I learned the importance of listening to advice and delegating responsibilities, which I believe will allow me to work closely with the committee to create an organised society.
If elected, I would aim to organise a range of events such as:
- Park runs / walks
- Outdoor picnics
- Yoga/meditation sessions
I aim to keep many of these events low-cost or free so that they remain accessible. I am also keen to explore opportunities for educational events, such as talks or workshops related to nutrition, mental wellbeing etc.
Overall, my goal as president would be to foster a welcoming and supportive environment where students can learn about lifestyle medicine, build healthy habits together, and connect with a positive community.
