Lebanese Society: Social Secretary

Hi, I’m Aya, and I’m running for Social Secretary of the Lebanese Society because I want to help create spaces where Lebanese students at UCL can feel a sense of home, community, and connection. Growing up between the Middle East and Lebanon, staying connected to Lebanese culture has always been important to me. I believe Lebanese Society plays a special role at UCL, not only celebrating our culture, food, and traditions, but also bringing people together in a relaxed and welcoming environment.

Relevant experience:

• Events Committee, UCL Arab Society – Helped coordinate large social and cultural events, including the ArabSoc Iftar, supporting logistics and creating welcoming spaces for students across the community.

• External Relations, UCL Fashion Business Society – Organized industry panels and networking events while coordinating partnerships and speaker outreach.

• Head of Technology & Marketing, UCL Law Society – Managed communications and event promotion for a society of 800+ members, increasing engagement and attendance.

• Leadership across multiple UCL societies – Experienced in organizing events, coordinating teams, and ensuring events run smoothly and attract strong participation.

As Social Secretary, I would focus on organizing Lebanese dinners, social nights, collaborations with ArabSoc and other societies, and cultural events that celebrate Lebanese traditions while helping members build friendships and community at UCL.
