Latin American Affairs Society: Social Secretary

I am standing for Social Secretary of the Latin American Affairs Society because I would really enjoy helping to create events that bring people together and celebrate the diversity of Latin American cultures in an inclusive and engaging way.

As a second-year Global Humanitarian Studies student, I am particularly interested in the social, cultural, and political dynamics of different regions, including Latin America. Although I am not a native Spanish speaker, I have developed a genuine appreciation for the region’s history, traditions, music, and food, and I value the opportunity this society provides to learn from and celebrate that diversity.

I believe social events are central to building a strong sense of community. Whether through cultural celebrations, themed socials, collaborations, or more relaxed gatherings, I would aim to organise events that are welcoming, well-planned, and accessible to both new and returning members.

I am organised, approachable, and open to ideas, and I would want members to feel involved in shaping the kinds of events we host.

Ultimately, I see this role as a great opportunity to contribute positively to the society and help create enjoyable and meaningful experiences throughout the year.
